The car giant Ford has been rapped by the Advertising Standards Agency for falsely implying its Focus model was used in the Bond film Casino Royale. A recent TV advert for the Ford Focus Zetec Climate used footage from Casino Royale, suggesting a link between the product and the film. In fact it was the Ford Mondeo that appeared alongside Bond. In their ruling the ASA said: “Because of the difficulty in differentiating between the two cars, the ad was likely to give the misleading impression that the Ford Focus Zetec Climate was used in the film Casino Royale, which could make it more attractive to some viewers.” Ford has been ordered not to screen the commercial again in its current form.
