'Casino' head: McGregor should be Bond

It should be noted that a leaked email from Barbara Broccoli's EON Productions allegedly says the 5ft 10 McGregor was thought to be too little to play Bond, according to reports. Interestingly 5ft 10 is the same height as Daniel Craig. This barefoot height has been verified by EON whom measured him and by Craig himself.
'Casino' head: McGregor should be Bond LONDON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- New Zealand director Martin Campbell, who headed up "Casino Royale," has admitted British actor Ewan McGregor was his first choice to play James Bond.
Campbell said that "Casino" execs approached the 35-year-old Scottish actor to take on the role of the world's most famous spy, but were ultimately forced to go with actor Daniel Craig when McGregor turned down the role, The Mirror said.
"I think he got another job or decided he didn't want it," said Campbell.
The director, who celebrates his 66th birthday Tuesday, also said that he "wasn't totally convinced" that the choice of the 38-year-old Craig was the right one for the action franchise.
The Mirror said his worries were only increased when production began on the film, which is set to be released Nov. 17, and rumors began that Craig could not operate the stick-shift of Bond's trademark Aston Martin.
