Ian Fleming Publications Ltd. has granted a license to publish.\u00a0 Dynamite Entertainment has a worldwide publishing rights for a James Bond comic books, graphic novels, and digital comics series based on Ian Fleming’s novels. They also have the right to create new material which is what they apparently plan to do with the first stories covering Bond’s career pre Casino Royale.<\/em> Which was hinted at in Fleming’s fist novel, this may sound strange to some newer fans however to the author Casino Royale<\/em> was not Bond Begins<\/span> it was the adventures of a established British intelligence agent.<\/p>\n

Dynamite Announces ‘James Bond’ Comics Coming in 2015<\/a><\/h1>\n

In what might be the biggest announcement related to New York Comic Con, Dynamite Entertainment has announced a partnership with the estate of Ian Fleming<\/strong> that grants the publisher worldwide rights to publish comic books, graphic novels and digital comics starring the world\u2019s most famous secret agent, James Bond, 007.In a statement accompanying the news, Dynamite Entertainment publisher Nick Barrucci<\/strong> called the character \u201cone of the greatest cultural icons in the world\u201d and the Bond movie series \u201cone of the most successful film franchises ever, a franchise that reinvents itself to be in tune with each generation.\u201d He said that Dynamite was \u201cexcited to build upon Fleming\u2019s source material with new canonical stories, and \u2026 honored \u2026 to be a small part of his legacy, to be able to bring new stories to fans around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ian Fleming Publications Ltd. managing director Corinne Turner<\/strong> added that her company was \u201cthrilled that 007 will be revisiting the world of comics, as Fleming\u2019s novels have a long and successful history in this medium, ever since they began to be published as newspaper comic strips in the late fifties,\u201d and called Dynamite \u201cthe perfect partners to take on the challenge of continuing this legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first Bond<\/em> appearance in comics came in 1958 when the British Daily Express<\/em> launched an adaptation of Casino Royale<\/em>. The character\u2019s American comic book debut came in 1963 when DC Comics reprinted a British adaptation of Dr. No<\/em> in its Showcase<\/em> anthology series. In later years, the character would also appear in comics published by Marvel, Dark Horse and now-defunct indie Eclipse.<\/p>\n

The Bond<\/em> deal allows Dynamite to both adapt existing Bond<\/em> stories (Fleming wrote 14 Bond<\/em> books during his lifetime) and create all-new material. As part of the announcement of the deal, Dynamite announced plans to create a series set prior to 1953\u2019s Casino Royale,<\/em> documenting the early years of the spy\u2019s career, to launch in 2015.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
