DALTON: 'PLAYING BOND WAS THE BEST'
2006-05-01
Screen star TIMOTHY DALTON insists playing JAMES BOND did his profile the world of good, ensuring he was welcomed with open arms wherever he went.
The 62-year-old actor, who starred in 1980s 007 movies THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS and LICENCE TO KILL, claims his stint as the suave super-spy brought him acclaim in places as far-flung as the North Pole.
He says, "There were absolutely no downsides to playing James Bond. It enhanced my profile no end.
"I made a documentary in the North Pole and, as the plane skidded to a halt, a group of Eskimos rushed up and said, 'Welcome, James Bond."
