New Bond is a dud

New Bond is a dud Fox News reported that the new Sony James Bond film "Casino Royale" doesn't bode well for the new Bond actor Daniel Craig. The movie opened at #2 behind "Happy Feet", a mediocre animated movie about pengins. "Casino Royale" opened with $40 million in box office receipts.
The article reports that "Casino Royale" opened behind the 2002 Bond film "Die Another Day" with Pierce Brosnan opened at $47 million. "Casino Royale" opened with only $5 million more than the 1999 movie "The World is Not Enough".
What the article (and most articles that I am reading) are failing to do is adjust for inflation. If one adjusts for inflation then the numbers are even worse for "Casino Royale".
Take a look:
2002 "Die Another Day" - $47 million Adjusted for inflation in 2006 dollars: $52 million This puts "Die Another Day" about $12 million ahead of "Casino Royale".
1999 "The World is Not Enough" - $42 million. Adjusted for inflation in 2006 dollars: $50 million This puts TWINE about $10 million *ahead* of "Casino Royale".
